Get Well Soon

I made most of this card last week, but my scissors have been missing.  My good Fiskars Micro-Tip scissors that I've been using for years.  So bummed!  They are great for fussy cutting.  I finally had to get a new pair.  Maybe now my old ones will turn up?  :)  I finished putting the card together today.

I copied the design of a card that I made previously (found here) that was CASE'd from Maile Belles.  For the background, I repeatedly stamped two sentiments in different colors, Marina Mist and Baked Brown Sugar, on a diagonal pattern.  I used A Beary Good Year by Cat's Pajamas and Fillable Frames #2 by Papertrey Ink.  I cut the background about an inch from the bottom and glued the two pieces to a Kraft card base.

I stamped the "get well soon" circle image from Around & About Sentiments by Papertrey Ink in Baked Brown Sugar ink and then punched it out.  I stamped the little tissue box image from Get Well Hanna, colored it with markers, fussy-cut it out, and glued it in the middle of the circle.  Done!  I deliberately kept the colors neutral so this card would be appropriate for anyone.

Stamps:  A Beary Good Year (Cat's Pajamas); Around & Around Sentiments, Fillable Frames #2 (Papertrey Ink); Get Well Hanna (Hanna Stamps)
Ink:  Rich Cocoa (Memento); Marina Mist, Baked Brown Sugar (Stampin' Up)
Paper:  White, Kraft (Papertrey Ink)
Misc:  Marina Mist marker, Going Gray marker (Stampin' Up); 1-1/4" circle punch (EK Success)

Happy Fourth of July

I finally got a card done for the SFYTT sketch challenge.  Once I saw the stars on the sketch, I immediately thought of using my In the Stars set by Stampin' Up.  I refuse to admit just how long it took me to find that set.  lol  I know it's a few days early for July 4th, but making this card sure put me in the mood for fireworks and grilled hamburgers.    :)

For some reason, my Pure Poppy stripes are looking a little pinkish, but I assure you they are red!  I embossed the "wish for you" star and punched it out with my SU star punch.  The larger blue star was stamped with VersaMark and simply cut out.  I also cut out the embossed outline star.  Both of the smaller stars are attached with pop-dots for dimension, as well as the white circle

I pulled out an old Hanna Stamps set (now retired) since it fit perfectly in the open space left on the white circle and used my Copic markers to color the image.  Turned out cute!  It's difficult to see, but I also used my colorless blender marker to add tiny dots to the blue part of the flag.  It gives just a hint of stars.  The red-striped mat and the red sentiment strip are both distressed along the edges to add a little bit of texture.

I had a lot of fun with this sketch!  It's an easy layout with lots of possibilities.   :)

Stamps:  In the Stars (Stampin' Up); Patriotic Hanna (Hanna Stamps); Distressed Stripes, Vintage Picnic (Papertrey Ink)
Paper:  Enchanted Evening, Pure Poppy, White (Papertrey Ink)
Ink:  Tuxedo Black (Memento); Pure Poppy (Papertrey Ink); VersaMark

Misc:  Standard Circles die (Spellbinders); Star punch (Stampin' Up); white embossing powder (Filigree); pop-dots

March SFYTT sketch card

Whew, talk about getting down to the wire with this card. I have a goal to participate in this sketch challenge every month and today's the last day! Here's the current SFYTT sketch:

And here's my card! Obviously, I turned the sketch sideways. :)

Since the sponsor this month is Amber Ink, I chose to use one of the stamp sets she illustrated for Hanna Stamps. (ahem....I have quite a few of them...love those adorable girls) I've got my eye on some of the new Amber Ink sets. I much prefer actual stamps over digital images given a choice, but they are so cute! Hostess with the Mostess and Grow Green are just calling me. lol Anyway, I digress.

My mojo deserted me over the last month. I still stamped every day because I'm working on my inventory book goal, but I haven't actually MADE anything. It's been so frustrating! I sat down to attempt this sketch several times, but got nowhere with it. Since today was the last day of the challenge, I tried once again and managed to get past the block. Maybe it was the frantic I-have-to-leave-in-an-hour deadline or maybe it was the I-have-to-make-something-at-least letting go of perfectionism, but either way I finally made a card. (and yes, I know I colored outside of the lines but I was in a major hurry) I really like the colors. Normally I wouldn't have put them together, but I pulled the color combo from the patterned paper.

Stamps: Perfect Package (Hanna Stamps), Mixed Messages (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Pure Poppy, Spring Rain, White (Papertrey Ink); Pocket Full of Posies Stack (DCWV)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Misc: Copic markers (E000, E00, E30, R20, E55, E57, E59, R24, R29, R59, B41, B45, B37)
