Camp Create 2019: Monochromatic Magic

Whew!  I finally got my monochromatic challenge card done for Camp Create over at My Favorite Things.  This one stumped me for a while.  Not gonna lie.  I always want to add more color!  I came up with this design after trying many different options.  I kept it very simple.

After digging through my patterned paper, I found this pretty monochromatic design in the Moonlight pad by Stampin' Up.  I adhered it to Hello Honey cardstock and then a Rustic Cream card base.  Next, I cut the word "hello" from Hello Honey cardstock using the Simply Hello die by My Favorite Things and double-stacked it for dimension.  I went over all the letters with a clear Wink of Stella pen to add sparkle.  You know I love my sparkle!

I used the negative of the die to space my letters neatly on the patterned paper and glue them down.  Then I stamped a sentiment from Well, Hello by My Favorite Things in Hello Honey ink on a strip of Rustic Cream cardstock and adhered it under the letters.  For a final touch of dimension and shine, I went over all the letters with Glossy Accents.

Hopefully, you can see the sparkle and dimension in the close-up photo.  Here's the last badge I earned for Camp Create this year!

Stamps:  Well, Hello (My Favorite Things)
Ink:  Hello Honey (Stampin' Up)
Paper:  Hello Honey, Moonlight dsp (Stampin' Up); Rustic Cream (Papertrey Ink)
Misc:  Simply Hello die (My Favorite Things); Glossy Accents; clear Wink of Stella pen

Camp Create 2019: Awesome Ombre

I'm back to post my card for the Awesome Ombre challenge over at My Favorite Thing's Camp Create.  Now I just have one left to do!  I felt like using some warm, rich colors for my ombre background, so I pulled out the Distress Oxide inks for this one.

I stamped the Diagonal Chevron Background by My Favorite Things on a piece of white cardstock, embossed it with white powder, and then sponged it with Dried Marigold, Carved Pumpkin, and Festive Berries ink.  After trimming the panel down, I mounted it on black cardstock and a white card base.

I cut a black frame using the Single Stitch Line Rectangle Frames dies from black cardstock, layering two together for dimension.  I also cut the word 'you' four times from white cardstock using the You Trio dies by My Favorite Things.  I layered the letters for dimension and placed them down the center of the black frame.  It took some creative engineering since two letters partially overlapped the frame, so parts of the Y and U have four layers and part has two layers to keep it all the same height.  Oh, the things we do to achieve our vision!  :)

For the final touch, I embossed a sentiment from All About You on a strip of black cardstock and adhered it across the center of the card.  I really love how this card turned out!  The colors are very striking with the black and white.  Here's my newest badge.

Stamps:  Diagonal Chevron Background, All About You (My Favorite Things)
Ink:  Dried Marigold, Carved Pumpkin, Festive Berries (Distress Oxide); VersaMark; Onyx Black (VersaFine)
Paper:  White, True Black (Papertrey Ink)
Misc:  You Trio dies, Single Stitch Line Rectangle Frames dies (My Favorite Things); white embossing powder, ink blending tool (Tim Holtz)

Camp Create 2019: Magnificent Masking

For such a simple design, it took me forever to figure out what I wanted to do for the Magnificent Masking challenge over at Camp Create.  I originally wanted to do a fun background using Mod Birds, but I couldn't find my masking paper!  I know I have a package somewhere in my studio.  {insert face palm and eye roll}  So I decided to keep it simple and go in a different direction.

I used the Heart Full of Love dies by My Favorite Things to cut a heart from a piece of copy paper.  After temporarily adhering it over some white cardstock, I stamped one of the paint streak images from the Abstract Art stamp set over the heart mask using Lavender Fields and Ripe Raspberry inks.  I love how it looks!

I stamped and heat-embossed a large sentiment from 100% Lovable by My Favorite Things directly on the heart after removing the mask.  Then I stamped another sentiment from Lots of Hugs beneath the heart.  I cut the white panel with a die from Blueprints 13 to add the stitching detail and layered it on black cardstock cut with a die from Blueprints 2.

The card needed an extra pop of color so I stamped the same paint streak image repeatedly around the sides of a white card base to create a fun border using the same colors as the heart.  Isn't it fantastic?  I really love how it frames the card!  Here's the badge I earned for this Camp Create challenge.

Stamps:  100% Lovable, Abstract Art, Lots of Hugs (My Favorite Things)
Ink:  Lavender Fields, Ripe Raspberry (My Favorite Things); Onyx Black (VersaFine); VersaMark
Paper:  White, True Black (Papertrey Ink)
Misc:  Heart Full of Love dies, Blueprints 2 dies, Blueprints 13 dies (My Favorite Things); clear embossing powder

Camp Create 2019: Background Bonanza

This card is for the Background Bonanza challenge from Camp Create on the My Favorite Things blog.  I used sponging, stenciling, and stamping to create my undersea background.

First, I sponged a subtle ombre background using Sno Cone, Summer Splash, Blue Raspberry, and Tropical Teal inks by My Favorite Things.  It's actually a bit darker than it looks in the photo.  Then I sponged Sweet Tooth ink through the Sunrise Radiating Rays stencil, tapering off the ends so it looked like sunlight streaking in the water.

I stamped some undersea plants using Tropical Teal and Smokey Shadows inks near the sandy bottom.  I also stamped some fish silhouettes in Smokey Shadow ink, both full-strength and stamped off first for a softer color.  I cut the sandy floor using an In the Meadow die by Papertrey Ink, and then cut it and the background using a die from Blueprints 13 by My Favorite Things.  I love the stitched detail.  I added a few Copic marker dots on the sand for some texture after sponging it with Fine Linen ink.

I stamped and colored a mermaid and fish from Mermazing, Gill Friends, and Friends With Fins stamp sets.  The fish silhouette images came from the same sets.  I added clear Wink of Stella to the mermaid tail and star for extra sparkle.  Hopefully you can see it in the close-up photo.  After I glued them in place to my background, I created bubbles with Glossy Accents.

As a last touch, I embossed a sentiment from Mermazing on a piece of Smokey Shadow cardstock that I cut with a die from Blueprints 13.  I thought the jagged edge worked well with the undersea scene, almost like a decayed board from a shipwreck.  I then adhered the whole scene to a white card base.

Here's the badge I earned for this challenge!

Camp Create 2019: Inlaid Made Easy

I'm joining in with the My Favorite Things Camp Create challenges this week.  Yesterday's technique was inlaid die cutting.  I didn't overlap my die cuts as demonstrated in the video, but it still took me two hours to do this card because I had to cut a LOT of eyeglasses in different colors.  Piecing them into the card front took time too.  It was fun though!

I used the two mini glasses from the Geek is Chic Glasses dies by My Favorite Things.  First, I cut them in a random pattern on one piece of white cardstock and then cut them multiple times from Hawaiian Shores, Hibiscus Burst, Limeade Ice, and True Black cardstock.  I have quite a pile of colorful bits left over!

I inlaid all the colorful frames into the white cardstock and then added black lenses to make them look like funky sunglasses.  I adhered the whole thing to black cardstock and then onto a white card base.  Hopefully, you can see the inlaid effect in the photos.

I didn't want to cover up all my hard work so I stamped a fun sentiment from Geek is Chic by My Favorite Things on a white cardstock strip cut with one of the Pierced Fishtail Flags STAX dies and adhered it with foam tape.   Voila, a spectacular card!  :)

Here's the Camp Create badge that I earned for creating this card.
