Speed Scrap

I participated in a speed scrap over at Scrap 'n Pieces this week.  My mojo has been seriously lacking as of late.  I've got stacks of card sketches, but just haven't felt much like creating.  I've done some reorganization, but unfortunately that's all the action my poor studio has seen.  Well, other than a few new acquisitions, of course.  lol  I saw the speed scrap announcement and thought, "Why not?"  The timing was perfect since I had just put another load in the washer and dryer.  Creative break!

I'm quite pleased with the layout.  The speed scrap instructions were pretty easy to follow (thankfully) and I knew exactly what photo I wanted to use.  My digital scrapping skills are a bit rusty, but I had my class printouts to reference when I couldn't remember how to do something.  It's been a year since I did one.  (gasp)  It made for a fun break from chores!

Back to School

I participated in a speed scrap over at the Stuff to Scrap forum last night.  I couldn't pass up the cute kit being offered for doing it.  I nearly forgot about it, but thankfully, we were given two hours to get it done and posted.  Here's my layout:

There were specific instructions to follow about placement, element clusters, and that sort of thing.  I didn't have much time to search through my digital kit stash, but I had recently downloaded several mini kits as part of the Back to School blog hop, so I used those with first day of school pictures of my kids. Don't they look thrilled?   :)

Shakespeare Camp

For last week's PSE lesson, I used pictures from Shakespeare Camp in July 2010. As part of the production, my daughter Melody sang a song from "Much Ado About Nothing". I included the lyrics from the first verse and kept the colors muted to complement the pictures.

Snow Day and Bosom Buddies

I'm still learning new techniques in my Photoshop Elements class over at Scraps N Pieces. This time it was photo overlays and feathering, both really cool techniques! I used them both in this layout.

I've always loved these silly pictures from the Shaw family reunion back in 2008. Emily and her cousin Joseph were like two peas in a pod that summer. I'm so glad these goofy moments were captured for posterity. :)

My next layout was done for a speed scrap with specific instructions to follow. It's a good thing I had a day to finish because it took me far longer than an hour! I used a picture of Emily from our single snowfall this winter.

Provo Canyon Hike

I just completed another digital scrapbook layout for my Photoshop Techniques class, so I thought I would pop in quickly to share. I'm pretty pleased with this one!

Most of the layout uses At the Cabin by Scraps N Pieces. The ribbon slider comes from the Romantic Valentine Mini Kit by the same designer. I used Palatino Linotype for the font.

Cousins

I thought I'd pop in and share another digital scrapbook page that I made this week. :) It's one of my favorite pictures from last September. Thanks to my class, I now know how to use all those digital templates I've saved!

My Boys

Slight change of pace here. I've been collecting digital scrapbooking kits for years now and finally purchased Photoshop Elements 10 during the last Black Friday weekend. One of my goals for this year is to learn how to use the program, so I've been taking an online class over at Scraps N Pieces. I am still very much a beginner, but I'm pretty proud of how this layout turned out.


It uses a kit called Nightengale by Scraps N Pieces that was available during the Designer Survivor contest. (in 2010, I think?) Anyway, I just had to share! :)
