Ink It Up with Leigh Penner: Boo

I had trouble finding my mojo yesterday.  After two weeks of run-throughs, tech rehearsals, and four performances of Little Women: The Musical, I've been flat-out tired the past two days.  I puttered around in my studio all afternoon, even cleaning out my scrap drawer, before finally coming up with this card.  I would have quit if I didn't need something for Ink It Up!  Leigh Penner and I post a project every second and fourth Wednesday using uninked stamps.  Thanks for the push, Leigh!  :)

I had this black scalloped notecard already cut in my stash and noticed that the ghost I cut during an earlier attempt fit perfectly.  My daughter Emily suggested the googly eyes.  I added some shading with gray Copic markers.  Then I embossed the word BOO in a vertical line on the left side.  Both the die and the sentiment come from Dress Up Dolls: Halloween by Papertrey Ink.  Simple, but fun!

Stamps:  Dress Up Dolls: Halloween (Papertrey Ink)
Ink:  VersaMark
Paper:  White, True Black (Papertrey Ink)
Copic: 0, N0, N2
Misc:  Dress Up Dolls: Halloween die, Noted: Scalloped Square die (Papertrey Ink); Googlies (Stampin' Up); white embossing powder (Filigree)

I've Been Spotted

Holy cow!  My stacked elephants card got spotlighted on the MFT Card Challenges blog.  Maybe I should say, holy elephant!  lol  That was a nice uplifting surprise today.

"Heidi created this adorable design for our Camp Create Farewell Bonfire Challenge — Single Layer Savvy. Her simply cute use of our Adorable Elephants stamp set proves that sometimes all you need is stamps, ink, and markers to create a wonderful design."

I haven't stamped much this month because I've been really busy with rehearsals for Little Women: The Musical.  Opening night is this Friday.  Add in the school year starting and life being so crazy up and down with the house purchase and other things, well, I haven't felt very creative.  I've been tired and emotionally drawn out.  Today, I got a well-needed nap, a nice long phone conversation with my sister, and now this shout out.  Thanks so much to My Favorite Things for the spotlight!

Here's the card and you can see the original post at this link.

Ink It Up with Leigh Penner: Happy Howlidays

It's time for the first September installment of Ink It Up!  Twice a month, on the second and fourth Wednesdays, Leigh Penner and I post a project using our uninked stamps.  I got this adorable Lawn Fawn set in the mail last week.  It's called Happy Howlidays and is a Stamptember exclusive over at Simon Says Stamp.  I simply could not resist!

Isn't that reindeer dog the cutest thing?  I stamped the images on white cardstock, cut them out with the matching dies, and colored them with Copic markers.  For the nose, I stamped it on white cardstock with Pure Poppy ink and hand cut it out.  (I didn't want the white border.)  The shine comes from Glossy Accents.  I put a black oval behind the dog to help it pop out more from the background.

I stamped the small candy cane image on white cardstock in a random pattern using black ink.  I colored the stripes with a red Copic marker and then added clear Wink of Stella over all of the images.  I had to have some sparkle!  Then I stamped some tiny snowflakes in silver ink.

I layered the candy cane piece on some Pure Poppy cardstock and angled them on striped patterned paper by Basic Grey.  Everything is adhered to a white card base.  I stamped my sentiment on a narrow strip of white cardstock and then matted it with Pure Poppy cardstock.  To fill the empty space on the left, I stamped a small pawprint.

So, now I have a new Christmas card to add to my stash!  This one was fun to make.  Hop over to Leigh's blog, To the Full, to see her Ink It Up card today.
